Our Process

 

CONSULTATION AND ASSESSMENT

We start by learning from you. At our first consultation, you tell us all about your child: what they need help with, what their ambitions are, the things they enjoy. Naturally, we want you to feel completely reassured, we’ll be happy to answer all the questions you like.

The assessment is a tool to help us understand your child’s learning style, and get a good idea of their strengths and weaknesses. We use the results to create a tailored learning plan for their chosen subject(s) and brief their tutor on how they learn best.

 

LEARNING AT THE CENTRE

With the consultation, assessment and enrolment complete, it’s time to get started. Your child will enjoy engaging, challenging sessions in a relaxed atmosphere at the IV Learning centre.

We understand that extra tutoring can feel like a big commitment, and we work hard to make sessions fun and engaging. Students tell us our sessions are a nice break from the school routine, so we must be doing something right.

 

HOMEWORK

Homework is the glue that binds all our hard work together. It’s a chance to practice independently, and explore deeper into the subject. We review and discuss each homework assignment in the next session: were some things easier than last time? Are there any tricky bits we need to go over again? We use homework nurture the growing roots of each topic and set targets for improvement.

 

PROGRESS AND FEEDBACK

While we do set tests from time to time to gauge students’ progress, the bulk of our continuous assessment is fairly low key. We find this is the best way to build a picture of your child’s progress while keeping stress levels to a minimum. We feed the results back into their tailored learning programme, so they get exactly the right support as their understanding grows.

We’ll update you on how things are going with written reports and regular meetings at the centre. It’s good to share in your child’s success together.
